ܠܡܐ ܠܐ ܗܘܝܬ ܒܪ ܚܐܪܐ ܐܘ ܠܐ ܗܘܝܬ ܫܠܝܚܐ ܐܘ ܠܝܫܘܥ ܡܫܝܚܐ ܡܪܢ ܠܐ ܚܙܝܬ ܐܘ ܠܐ ܗܘܝܬܘܢ ܥܒܕܝ ܒܡܪܝ
bmry ebdy hwythwn l' 'w khzyth l' mrn mshykh' lyshwe 'w shlykh' hwyth l' 'w kh'r' br hwyth l' lm'
Am I not free? Am I not an apostle? Haven’t I seen Jesus Christ, our Lord? Aren’t you my work in the Lord?

ܘܐܢ ܠܐܚܪܢܐ ܠܐ ܗܘܝܬ ܫܠܝܚܐ ܐܠܐ ܠܟܘܢ ܐܝܬܝ ܘܚܬܡܐ ܕܫܠܝܚܘܬܝ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܐܢܘܢ
'nwn 'nthwn dshlykhwthy wkhthm' 'ythy lkwn 'l' shlykh' hwyth l' l'khrn' w'n
If to others I am not an apostle, yet at least I am to you; for you are the seal of my apostleship in the Lord.

ܘܡܦܩ ܒܪܘܚܝ ܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܕܝܢܝܢ ܠܝ ܗܢܘ
hnw ly ddynyn l'ylyn brwkhy wmpq
My defense to those who examine me is this.

ܘܠܡܐ ܠܐ ܫܠܝܛ ܠܢ ܚܬܐ ܐܢܬܬܐ ܠܡܟܪܟܘ ܥܡܢ ܐܝܟ ܫܪܟܐ ܕܫܠܝܚܐ ܘܐܝܟ ܐܚܘܗܝ ܕܡܪܢ ܘܐܝܟ ܟܐܦܐ

Have we no right to take along a wife who is a believer, even as the rest of the apostles, and the brothers of the Lord, and Cephas?

ܐܘ ܐܢܐ ܒܠܚܘܕ ܘܒܪܢܒܐ ܠܝܬ ܠܢ ܫܘܠܛܢܐ ܕܠܐ ܢܦܠܘܚ

Or have only Barnabas and I no right to not work?

ܡܢܘ ܕܡܦܠܚ ܒܦܠܚܘܬܐ ܒܢܦܩܬܐ ܕܢܦܫܗ ܐܘ ܡܢܘ ܕܢܨܒ ܟܪܡܐ ܘܡܢ ܦܐܪܘܗܝ ܠܐ ܐܟܠ ܐܘ ܡܢܘ ܕܪܥܐ ܥܢܐ ܘܡܢ ܚܠܒܐ ܕܡܪܥܝܬܗ ܠܐ ܐܟܠ
'kl l' dmreythh khlb' wmn en' dre' mnw 'w 'kl l' p'rwhy wmn krm' dntsb mnw 'w dnpshh bnpqth' bplkhwth' dmplkh mnw
What soldier ever serves at his own expense? Who plants a vineyard, and doesn’t eat of its fruit? Or who feeds a flock, and doesn’t drink from the flock’s milk?

ܕܠܡܐ ܐܝܟ ܒܪܢܫܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܐܡܪ ܐܢܐ ܗܐ ܐܦ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܗܠܝܢ ܐܡܪ
'mr hlyn nmws' 'p h' 'n' 'mr hlyn brnsh' 'yk dlm'
Do I speak these things according to the ways of men? Or doesn’t the law also say the same thing?

ܟܬܝܒ ܓܝܪ ܒܗ ܒܢܡܘܣܐ ܕܡܘܫܐ ܕܠܐ ܬܒܠܘܡ ܬܘܪܐ ܕܡܕܪܟ ܠܡܐ ܥܠ ܬܘܪܐ ܒܛܝܠ ܠܗ ܠܐܠܗܐ
l'lh' lh bTyl thwr' el lm' dmdrk thwr' thblwm dl' dmwsh' bnmws' bh gyr kthyb
For it is written in the law of Moses, “You shall not muzzle an ox while it treads out the grain.” Is it for the oxen that God cares,

ܐܠܐ ܝܕܝܥܐ ܕܡܛܠܬܢ ܗܘ ܐܡܪ ܘܡܛܠܬܢ ܓܝܪ ܐܬܟܬܒܬ ܡܛܠ ܕܥܠ ܣܒܪܐ ܗܘ ܘܠܐ ܠܗ ܠܟܪܘܒܐ ܕܢܟܪܘܒ ܘܐܝܢܐ ܕܡܕܪܟ ܥܠ ܣܒܪܐ ܕܥܠܠܬܐ
dellth' sbr' el dmdrk w'yn' dnkrwb lkrwb' lh wl' hw sbr' del mTl 'thkthbth gyr wmTlthn 'mr hw dmTlthn ydye' 'l'
or does he say it assuredly for our sake? Yes, it was written for our sake, because he who plows ought to plow in hope, and he who threshes in hope should partake of his hope.

ܐܢ ܚܢܢ ܕܪܘܚܐ ܙܪܥܢ ܒܟܘܢ ܪܒܐ ܗܝ ܐܢ ܚܢܢ ܡܢܟܘܢ ܕܦܓܪܐ ܢܚܨܘܕ
nkhtswd dpgr' mnkwn khnn 'n hy rb' bkwn zren drwkh' khnn 'n
If we sowed to you spiritual things, is it a great thing if we reap your fleshly things?

ܘܐܢ ܠܐܚܪܢܐ ܐܝܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܫܘܠܛܢܐ ܥܠܝܟܘܢ ܠܐ ܠܢ ܘܠܐ ܝܬܝܪܐܝܬ ܐܠܐ ܠܐ ܐܬܚܫܚܢ ܒܫܘܠܛܢܐ ܗܢܐ ܐܠܐ ܟܠܡܕܡ ܡܣܝܒܪܝܢܢ ܕܒܡܕܡ ܠܐ ܢܬܟܣ ܣܒܪܬܗ ܕܡܫܝܚܐ
dmshykh' sbrthh nthks l' dbmdm msybrynn klmdm 'l' hn' bshwlTn' 'thkhshkhn l' 'l' ythyr'yth wl' ln l' elykwn shwlTn' lhwn 'yth l'khrn' w'n
If others partake of this right over you, don’t we yet more? Nevertheless we did not use this right, but we bear all things, that we may cause no hindrance to the Good News of Christ.

ܠܐ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܒܝܬ ܩܘܕܫܐ ܦܠܚܝܢ ܡܢ ܒܝܬ ܩܘܕܫܐ ܡܣܬܝܒܪܝܢ ܘܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܠܡܕܒܚܐ ܦܠܚܝܢ ܥܡ ܡܕܒܚܐ ܦܠܓܝܢ
plgyn mdbkh' em plkhyn dlmdbkh' w'ylyn msthybryn qwdsh' byth mn plkhyn qwdsh' dbyth d'ylyn 'nthwn ydeyn l'
Don’t you know that those who serve around sacred things eat from the things of the temple, and those who wait on the altar have their portion with the altar?

ܗܟܢܐ ܐܦ ܡܪܢ ܦܩܕ ܕܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܣܒܪܬܗ ܡܟܪܙܝܢ ܡܢ ܣܒܪܬܗ ܢܚܘܢ
nkhwn sbrthh mn mkrzyn dsbrthh d'ylyn pqd mrn 'p hkn'
Even so the Lord ordained that those who proclaim the Good News should live from the Good News.

ܐܢܐ ܕܝܢ ܠܐ ܐܬܚܫܚܬ ܒܚܕܐ ܡܢ ܗܠܝܢ ܘܠܘ ܡܛܠ ܗܕܐ ܟܬܒܬ ܕܗܟܢܐ ܢܗܘܐ ܠܝ ܦܩܚ ܠܝ ܓܝܪ ܕܡܡܬ ܐܡܘܬ ܘܠܐ ܕܐܢܫ ܫܘܒܗܪܝ ܢܣܪܩ
nsrq shwbhry d'nsh wl' 'mwth dmmth gyr ly pqkh ly nhw' dhkn' kthbth hd' mTl wlw hlyn mn bkhd' 'thkhshkhth l' dyn 'n'
But I have used none of these things, and I don’t write these things that it may be done so in my case; for I would rather die, than that anyone should make my boasting void.

ܐܦ ܕܡܣܒܪ ܐܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܠܝܬ ܠܝ ܫܘܒܗܪܐ ܩܛܝܪܐ ܓܝܪ ܣܝܡ ܥܠܝ ܘܝ ܠܝ ܕܝܢ ܐܠܐ ܐܣܒܪ
'sbr 'l' dyn ly wy ely sym gyr qTyr' shwbhr' ly lyth gyr 'n' dmsbr 'p
For if I preach the Good News, I have nothing to boast about; for necessity is laid on me; but woe is to me, if I don’t preach the Good News.

ܐܢ ܓܝܪ ܒܨܒܝܢܝ ܗܕܐ ܣܥܪ ܐܢܐ ܐܓܪܐ ܐܝܬ ܠܝ ܐܢ ܕܝܢ ܕܠܐ ܒܨܒܝܢܝ ܪܒܬ ܒܝܬܘܬܐ ܗܘ ܡܗܝܡܢ ܐܢܐ
'n' mhymn hw bythwth' rbth btsbyny dl' dyn 'n ly 'yth 'gr' 'n' ser hd' btsbyny gyr 'n
For if I do this of my own will, I have a reward. But if not of my own will, I have a stewardship entrusted to me.

ܐܝܢܐ ܗܘ ܗܟܝܠ ܐܓܪܝ ܕܟܕ ܡܣܒܪ ܐܢܐ ܕܠܐ ܢܦܩܬܐ ܐܥܒܕܝܗ ܠܣܒܪܬܗ ܕܡܫܝܚܐ ܘܠܐ ܐܬܚܫܚ ܒܫܘܠܛܢܐ ܕܝܗܒ ܠܝ ܒܐܘܢܓܠܝܘܢ
b'wnglywn ly dyhb bshwlTn' 'thkhshkh wl' dmshykh' lsbrthh 'ebdyh npqth' dl' 'n' msbr dkd 'gry hkyl hw 'yn'
What then is my reward? That, when I preach the Good News, I may present the Good News of Christ without charge, so as not to abuse my authority in the Good News.

ܟܕ ܡܚܪܪ ܐܢܐ ܓܝܪ ܡܢ ܟܠܗܝܢ ܠܟܠܢܫ ܫܥܒܕܬ ܢܦܫܝ ܕܠܣܓܝܐܐ ܐܬܪ

For though I was free from all, I brought myself under bondage to all, that I might gain the more.

ܘܗܘܝܬ ܥܡ ܝܗܘܕܝܐ ܐܝܟ ܝܗܘܕܝܐ ܕܠܝܗܘܕܝܐ ܐܬܪ ܘܥܡ ܕܬܚܝܬ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܗܘܝܬ ܐܝܟ ܕܬܚܝܬ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܕܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܬܚܝܬ ܢܡܘܣܐ ܐܢܘܢ ܐܬܪ
'thr 'nwn nmws' dthkhyth dl'ylyn nmws' dthkhyth 'yk hwyth 'nwn nmws' dthkhyth wem 'thr dlyhwdy' yhwdy' 'yk yhwdy' em whwyth
To the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain Jews; to those who are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain those who are under the law;

ܘܠܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܢܡܘܣܐ ܠܝܬ ܠܗܘܢ ܗܘܝܬ ܐܝܟ ܕܠܐ ܢܡܘܣ ܟܕ ܠܐ ܐܝܬܝ ܠܐܠܗܐ ܕܠܐ ܢܡܘܣ ܐܠܐ ܒܢܡܘܣܗ ܕܡܫܝܚܐ ܕܐܦ ܠܗܢܘܢ ܕܕܠܐ ܢܡܘܣ ܐܢܘܢ ܐܬܪ
'thr 'nwn nmws ddl' lhnwn d'p dmshykh' bnmwsh 'l' nmws dl' l'lh' 'ythy l' kd nmws dl' 'yk hwyth lhwn lyth dnmws' wl'ylyn
to those who are without law, as without law (not being without law toward God, but under law toward Christ), that I might win those who are without law.

ܗܘܝܬ ܥܡ ܟܪܝܗܐ ܐܝܟ ܟܪܝܗܐ ܕܠܟܪܝܗܐ ܐܬܪ ܠܟܠܢܫ ܟܠ ܗܘܝܬ ܕܠܟܠܢܫ ܐܚܐ
'kh' dlklnsh hwyth kl lklnsh 'thr dlkryh' kryh' 'yk kryh' em hwyth
To the weak I became as weak, that I might gain the weak. I have become all things to all men, that I may by all means save some.

ܗܕܐ ܕܝܢ ܥܒܕ ܐܢܐ ܡܛܠ ܕܐܗܘܐ ܫܘܬܦܐ ܠܣܒܪܬܐ

Now I do this for the sake of the Good News, that I may be a joint partaker of it.

ܠܐ ܝܕܥܝܢ ܐܢܬܘܢ ܕܐܝܠܝܢ ܕܒܐܣܛܕܝܘܢ ܪܗܛܝܢ ܟܠܗܘܢ ܗܘ ܪܗܛܝܢ ܐܠܐ ܚܕ ܗܘ ܢܣܒ ܠܗ ܙܟܘܬܐ ܗܟܢܐ ܗܪܛܘ ܐܝܟ ܕܬܕܪܟܘܢ
dthdrkwn 'yk hrTw hkn' zkwth' lh nsb hw khd 'l' rhTyn hw klhwn rhTyn db'sTdywn d'ylyn 'nthwn ydeyn l'
Don’t you know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run like that, that you may win.

ܟܠ ܐܢܫ ܕܝܢ ܕܐܓܘܢܐ ܥܒܕ ܡܢ ܟܠ ܡܕܡ ܐܚܕ ܪܥܝܢܗ ܘܗܠܝܢ ܪܗܛܝܢ ܕܢܣܒܘܢ ܟܠܝܠܐ ܕܡܬܚܒܠ ܚܢܢ ܕܝܢ ܕܠܐ ܡܬܚܒܠ
mthkhbl dl' dyn khnn dmthkhbl klyl' dnsbwn rhTyn whlyn reynh 'khd mdm kl mn ebd d'gwn' dyn 'nsh kl
Every man who strives in the games exercises self-control in all things. Now they do it to receive a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible.

ܐܢܐ ܗܟܝܠ ܗܟܢܐ ܪܗܛ ܐܢܐ ܠܐ ܗܘܐ ܐܝܟ ܕܥܠ ܡܕܡ ܕܠܐ ܝܕܝܥ ܘܗܟܢܐ ܡܬܟܬܫ ܐܢܐ ܠܐ ܐܝܟ ܗܘ ܕܠܐܐܪ ܟܬܫ

I therefore run like that, not aimlessly. I fight like that, not beating the air,
